Title: Public Relations – Chicago Chapter
Why you have a career in the sports industry?
I wanted to somehow make a living out of watching sports. 🙂 Originally, I set out to be a sports reporter. My career eventually led me to public relations. I’ve had the opportunity to work with several professional sports organizations throughout my career so far, and I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of some amazing moments with them — It’s truly been an experience of a lifetime!
What is the best part of working in sports?
You’re rarely stuck behind a desk, and there’s never a dull moment!
Advice for people trying to break into the sports industry?
It can be very challenging and competitive to break into the industry, so find a way to stand out. I’ve volunteered at a couple of organizations before — just to show them what I can do and how much value I can bring to the table. I’ve also reached out to top sports executives, asking for just 10-15 minutes of their time to gain some career insight and let them know that I am available to lend a hand if ever needed. Think outside the box and find a way to get in front of people. Submitting a resume online simply won’t cut it anymore, so you’ll definitely need to get creative!
